Molly, the part-time Mall Employee, works 4 hours a night and earns $10 per hour
(yeah right . . . but $10 is just easier to work with)
Monday – works 4 hours, earns $40, has to wait till Friday to get paid.
Tuesday – works 4 hours, misses daughters volleyball game, she earns $40, has to wait till Friday to get paid.
Wednesday - works 4 hours, earns $40, has to wait til Friday to get paid.
Thursday - works 4 hours, misses great sale at mall because she has to work & has no money YET, earns $40, has to wait til Friday to get paid.
Friday – works 5 hours, to clean store for week, earns $50, FINALLY gets paid.
Betty the part-time
A Consultant works 2-3 nights per week for about 2 hours a night and her average sales from her spas are $500.
Monday – works 2 hours at a spa, sales were $500, after expenses she made $212.50 and she can get her money that night.
Tuesday – took the night off to attend her daughter’s volleyball game, while at the game a client called and left an order for $100 in products, she earned $50
Wednesday – worked 2 hours at a spa, sold $400, after expenses earned $134 and got the money that night.
Thursday – in the morning went to the mall and purchased a new outfit (with her spa earnings) for her anniversary dinner Friday night. Had a spa that night worked 2 hours & sold $650 that night. After expenses she made $287.50 & took the money home that night.
Friday – took the night off for her anniversary dinner. Wore her new outfit and gave her husband the new tool he had been eyeing (paid with her BC earnings). While out 2 clients called with reorders totaling $80. She earned $40 that night while on a date with her husband.
Do the math…Molly worked 21 hours last week and made $210, but 30% was taken for taxes so she took home $147.
Betty only worked 6 hours this week and sold $1730 and after expenses earned $724 this week.
Molly pays full price for all of her skincare, makeup and body care products & pays full price for all of her bridal, birthday & special occasions gifts.
Betty not only makes great money, but also is a smart shopper. She started her own business with little investment. Now she purchases all of her skincare, makeup and body care products at wholesale prices and all her bridal, birthday and special occasions gifts at wholesale prices too!!
So I ask you…which would you prefer to be?
Molly who worked 21 hours and earned $147 for the week or
Betty who worked 6 hours & earned $724.00 for the week? ($120.67/hour)
